If you haven’t heard of the name Jeff Gunn before, then I think you should go out and purchase his latest books – Hidden Sounds/Hidden Self series. Jeff is going across Canada through the months of May and June demonstrating a free Guitar workshop and talking about his latest publication.
This past week in Toronto, Jeff took part in Canadian Music Week and stopped by Long & McQuade to hand out a free lesson on various guitar techniques and talk passionately about his new series of books.
Jeff is quite the musician, performing and teaching music in North America, Africa, Europe and in Asia. He’s shared the stage with Emmanuel Jal (author of the bestseller War Child), Swizz Beatz, DMC, Jenna Andrews, Kae Sun, Serena Ryder, Arrested Development, and Kate Todd while opening for Peter Gabriel, Bonnie Raitt, Janelle Monae, Feist, Karl Wolf, and K’naan. He has also published over 70 articles covering diverse subjects as – music, travel, fashion and history. His first love will always be the guitar and his Hidden Sounds series examines 10 life lessons learned through musical study and performance along with sharing personal stories from his own musical journey as a guitarist, arranger, songwriter, columnist, author, and professor that has taken him to all seven continents.
HMS had the opportunity to sit in on the workshop and interview him afterwards. We chatted about his experiences with music and in particular steer the conversation towards all things metal. It was an interesting chat!
