If dissociative identity disorder were a movie, I'm pretty sure it would be Bleed.
I'll try to lay out the plot for you but it was such a rushed, jumbled mess that I feel I might miss something. None of it feels cohesive.
Matt and Sarah are soon to be parents that have moved to this little country town. They're having a weekend celebration with friends Bree and Dave. Eventually Sarah's twin brother, Eric, shows up with his psychic hippie girlfriend, Skye. This is where I get lost. Sarah has a moon shaped birthmark that has to do with the weird cult that makes up the town. There is a prophecy… there's always a prophecy. I just don't know what the prophecy is. Then there is the story line about an abandoned prison that was gutted by a fire that killed one of the cult's scariest child murderers, Cannibal Cane. It's said that the ghost of Cannibal Cane haunts the ruins. Dave knows where it is because he grew up in a town close to the cult town. Everybody decides to go check it out except Sarah because she's so pregnant.
This is when I tuned out. I was so confused by all of the plot that was dumped in my lap. Not to mention trying to process the other elements of story that got presented as important plot. Apparently Bree has schizophrenia and she is constantly popping her medication, but this is only brought up so she can drop her pills later. We were also told that Sarah will be having a home birth. We even get to see the room it'll happen in, but it's never mentioned again. Ever.
Surprisingly, the effects are amazing in this film. It had some really cool practical pieces. There's one thing that annoyed me a little and that was in one scene they used some CG crows. The crows were not bad but the actress’ reaction to the CG birds was hilarious!
Bleed is two hours’ worth of plot stuffed into 82 minutes of movie. It felt so rushed. Maybe if they had taken a few elements out and just worked on the cult or the ghost it would be worth watching. As it stands, I wouldn't suggest it.
