Watch If You Dare
by Christopher G. Moore, Jill Gervargizian, Andy Stewart

I know usually it's my buddy PJ that reviews the anthologies, but I can't let him have all of the fun! I love a good anthology andWatch If You Dare is a good anthology. But just a good one, not a great one.

When anthologies don't have a wraparound story I feel like it's missing something. A wraparound makes it feel cohesive and complete. When you have just story after story thrown at you without that linking thread it gets tedious. This is Watch If You Dare's biggest flaw.

The four stories are pretty good. The weakest story is the first one, “The Stylist,” that is all about a hair stylist with a very odd collection. My favorite must be “Foodies”. It's very bizarre and it has a very Troma feel. The other two stories are “Ink”, which is probably the grossest of the four, it's very gooey, and the last story is called “Knobgoblin.” The last one also has a very Troma vibe and the lead character looks like a special value Val Kilmer, like young Top Gun Kilmer, not Kilmer now.

I will say that the effects in this mish mash of goofy are super well done. Everything else feels low budget and that is what's giving me that wonderful Troma feel. Over acting, odd settings, and bad humor. This movie makes me happy.

If you like anthologies or you like silly, low budget horror, I highly recommend Watch If You Dare. It's fun, gore-filled fluff. Something to put on and riff with your friends. It's available on Prime. Go give it a watch, if you dare!
