Bad Samaritan

Bad Samaritan

by Dean Devlin

I am so late on the "David Tennant is awesome fan-girllapalloza". I am not a fan of Doctor Who. My first encounter with Tennant was the trash remake of Fright Night. He was the only good thing about that movie. Then I saw Broadchurch and the first season of Jessica Jones around the same time and I fell in love. This I why I got excited about Bad Samaritan, he makes a good hero but he makes the most amazing villains.

Bad Samaritan is about a couple of small-time thieves, Sean and Derek. They're using their jobs as valets to break into the homes of the people who eat at the restaurant. They have the keys to the car and house and they take just enough, until one day, they think that they have found the perfect score. Cale (David Tennant) is an entitled asshat that is driving a Maserati. Sean has no problems stealing from a guy like this. Sean breaks into Cale's amazing house and is not prepared for what he finds. Cale has a woman bound and chained in a room. This begins Sean's decent into a crazy game of cat and mouse.

This film was amazing. Every complaint I had about most modern horror was erased by this amazingly tense story. Robert Sheehan as Sean was so lovable. I might be a little biased because I adored him in MisFits. He started out as a terrible person and had a wonderful redemption. Plus, his Irish accent was really dreamy.

David Tennant is perfection. He is so terrifying in this. I think he might even be scarier in this than his performance as Kilgrave in Jessica Jones. This was one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen. He was cold and vicious. I was so happy!

Bad Samaritan is a very chilling tale that takes you places you didn't expect to go. It will make you think about who is really a villain and who is a hero. It's all about shades of gray. I love any movie that can keep me hooked right from the beginning. This one does just that! It's available to rent on Prime. It is a film that I am going to suggest to every single person I know! Check it out!

About the reviewer:

Robin Thompson was born and raised in a small mountain town in North East Georgia. She was brought up in a very liberal household. Her parents fed her a steady diet of horror, comedy, and science fiction. Her mother let her read Cujo at the age of 5. Her father took her to see Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare just so she could experience her favorite franchise in 3D. As a teenager while all her girlfriends wanted to watch Dirty Dancing she was the weird girl in the corner clutching her copy of Pieces hoping someone would be interested in murder and mayhem. Now as an adult she gets her kicks by playing video games for people on YouTube and writing reviews about her one true love, horror movies.
