Are you ready for another fresh breeze of Thrash Metal? Here we are with the second Album of Chronosphere from Greece: Embracing Oblivion. You get a professional modern production that still sounds raw, old school and not too polished. Plus aggressive thrash with a recognizable guitar sound, unique vocals and fast punching drums.
First time I was listening to the CD, I have been shocked in the first seconds due to an over-gain effect – Horror Metal Sounds appreciates this for sure! There are also some more surprising effects and interludes to explore. Every Song got an excellent drive, interesting vocal rhythms and the classic thrash elements. “Brutal Decay” is the best song in my opinion. One of those you can’t stop to hear again and again.
There are also fantastic melodic parts, but it’s impossible to hold your mouth closed. You just have to scream along to “Herald the Uprising“ or “One Hand Red Per Saint“. Once you concentrate on guitar solos or drum and bass fills, you will realize these musicians are super talented. Everybody knows how to technically shred his instrument – no doubt! Listen to “Seize Your Last Chance“ or “The redemption“ and you got your proof. Guitarist Josh Christian from Toxik also has his guest appearance, though he is holding his fire.
Lyrically it’s a well-thought-out concept album although words and text are not that artistic. I miss more experimental or differing songs that would have made the album more colorful. Embracing Oblivion is fast, thrashy and attacking straight through! Some songs you will love from the first or second listening, some others need a while to develop. If you are into Thrash Metal, definitely check this out!
