Nasty Savage
Jeopardy Room

Released: 10/10/2024
8.5/10
Floridian thrash masters Nasty Savage have returned after reforming in 2016. Being a huge influence for many of the Florida based death metal bands such as Obituary and Death it's absolutely fantastic that we get a new full length release, Jeopardy Room via Metal Blade records on October 11, 2024.
Most noted for their speed and heavy thrash sound, their on stage antics always brought huge crowds with vocalist, 'Nasty' Ronnie Galletti smashing TV sets over his head.
This much anticipated fifth full length release is a follow up to their 2004 album Psycho Psycho. Some would think a twenty year gap would be detrimental for a band but this isn't just any band this is Nasty Savage where time doesn't have any affect on their mission for delivering heavy thrash.
The album begins with a short intro 'Invocations' that gives the listener a short sound scape that is ominous and stops suddenly ripping into the title track 'Jeopardy Room'. This track has a classic thrash sound, heavy and fast with a smoking groove and the vocals sound fantastic.
'Brain Washer' has a killer double bass drum intro mixed with a massive riff. This is one of my personal favourite tracks, a classic Nasty Savage and I can feel the brutality In the mosh pit.
'Southern Fried Hospitality' has a cool acoustic guitar intro that leads into a darker sounding almost doom vibe. When the vocals cut in the song changes to a cool thrash chug and a killer guitar solo, this is another favourite of mine.
'Witches Sabbath' with guests John and Donald Tardy from Obituary on vocals and drums, begins with almost a hymn vibe with a slower almost spoken work intro which adds to the enjoyment of this song. The track has a really cool, more traditional vibe and the vocals are amazing.
'Schizoid Platform' is the first single released giving fans a great teaser for the album. When I first heard this single I was blown away, the musicianship on this song is incredible, it feels like it has layers to it.
'Aztec Elegance' has a slower guitar intro leading into more of a chant. The song takes off around the 1:25 mark and features a heavy thrash chug. Again the vocals on this track sound great. The drums and bass thump a darker vibe with cool guitar riffs.
'Operational Annihilate' is the fastest track on the album and the song flows into a killer guitar solo.
'Blood Syndicate' is a heavy thrash track that pounds away at you. A great chug mixed with a woman's voice creating a cool effect, this is another personal favourite.
'The 6th Finger' begins with a super heavy riff and shows how guitar driven this band is. The bass line is impressive and being an instrumental you get a lesson in musicianship.
Last track 'Sainted Devil' is an all out thrash attack. I always love it when bands finish their album off strong and that's what happens here. A heavy song, great flow with superb vocals. This has an early Slayer vibe with the song construction.
The metal landscape in 2024 has been elevated with this release.
This is a must buy for old school fans and new fans alike, keeping the thrash touch lit.
I recommend picking up this album and taking it for a spin.🤘
