Show Notes:
Episode Twenty-One: Flotsam and Jetsam's No Place For Disgrace (1988). Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, this is the second release and first without founding bassist Jason Newsted who left the band to join Metallica. Known for hard hitting power/thrash, the band developed a refine sound and found themselves on major label Elektra Records.
Thematically, the album is much darker in tone and also continued with lyrics which talked about history and literature. There was also a bit of controversy around the album's title with the label wanting to call it Blessing In Disguise, however, the band went with their own choice for the title. Blessing In Disguise eventually was used by Metal Church who were also on Elektra Records.
Fun Facts: The album cover art depicting a Samurai in the midst of completing seppuku was done by the great Boris Vallejo. The song Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting was originally written and performed by Elton John.
