Show Notes:
Episode Thirty: This week we review UK thrash with the debut release from Xentrix. Released September 18, 1989 on RC Records, Shattered Existence was an impressive thrasher peaking at #31 on the UK Charts. The album received positive reviews and many critics cited a sharp sounding and well played sound. The music is comparable to Metallica stylistically, and maintaining a heavy vibe throughout.
The band toured with Testament, Skyclad, Sepultura and Slayer. They also toured with UK thrash legend Sabbat in support of Shattered Existence. They shot a video for MTV and also went onto to tour with Tankard.
Fun facts: In 1990, the band faced a small bit of controversy/publicity surrounding the release of their cover of Ray Parker Jr.'s Ghosbusters theme, in which the original artwork for the single had an unauthorized use of the Ghostbusters logo (with the ghost giving the middle finger). The single was subsequently re-leased using a different cover.
