Show Notes:
Episode Seventy: This week we usher in the return of Billy to the show, as we discuss Sodom's brilliant and hard hitting Tapping The Vein. Released in 1992 on Steamhammer/SPV, the album was the band's 5th release and marked the return to a heavy and fast paced musical style. Much of the album veered into Death Metal and also featured some inspired drumming by Witchhunter. This would also be the drummer's last record with the band.
Tapping The Vein received positive reviews from critics, with many noting the band's attempt to modernize their sound. The album peaked at number 56 on Germany's top 100 charts and the tour made many stops throughout Europe and Japan. The album also marked the debut of new guitarist Andy Brings who brought new energy to the band's sound, despite this being the last outing with Witchhunter on drums.
Fun Facts: The album featured the iconic mascot Knarrenheinz holding a large gun and infusing the weapon with blood. Some say this could be a homage to DC Comics Bane, or even movie actor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
