Show Notes:
Episode Eighty: Billy returns to the podcast as the boys take a deep dive into the final album from Megadeth. The 17th studio album from the band is highlighted here by ten tracks, plus the bonus track that everyone has an opinion about.
The self titled record features some blistering lead work from Teemu Mantysaari who also handles a crap ton of the solos. Joining Dave and Teemu are Dirk Verbeuren on drums and James Lomenzo on bass, completing a solid line-up to the final album from the band. The music is diverse, but there’s plenty of tracks filled with fiery intensity and speed metal goodness to really perk up your ears.
Beyond the ten tracks, the bonus song covers the classic Metallica track Ride The Lightning and boy does it ever open the barrage of opinions as to the merits of its inclusion here on the album to represent the final track. The guys argue that The Final Note is a worthy final piece of music from Dave that now gets overshadowed by the Ride cover and it’s a real shame this decision was made.
Fun Facts: The album artwork was created by Blake Armsttrong who has worked previously with In Flames, Hypocrisy and Kataklsym. The main image features Vic Rattlehead in duo role of hell and heaven mode.
