Show Notes:
Episode Eighty Eight: Jim and Ken go it alone without Billy, as it was announced he has left the show for personal reasons. So now as a twosome, the guys discuss Death Angel's sophomore album Frolic Through The Park. The album was released July 5th, 1988 on Enigma Records and it was the start of the band's attempt to broaden their sound with experimental and diverse ideas of funk, progressive rock and punk rock. There are still some thrash elements left, but it was a huge leap from the classic Ultra-Violence.
The album featured the hit song "Bored" that received continual rotation on MTV's Headbanger's Ball. The other major hit "3rd Floor" proved to be so popular, that the song has remained in the live set after the comeback in 2001. Although it was later revealed years later that both Rob and Mark have disowned Frolic, calling it a "bastard album" and an "odd album". It would seem they were not happy with the creative direction the album took.
Fun Facts: Mark Osegueda revealed in 2003 interview that the title song "Why You do This" was a line in the film The Exorcist. The song Bored was also a song used in the 1990 horror move Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III.
