Hey folks, Battleaxe is now back and they have returned harder than ever! Too much trouble and dismay, the band finally pulled through and released their third studio album, HEAVY METAL SANCTUARY, a hard hitting record with catchy hooks and power metal, gut-punching, headbanger riffs! You can tell the drive is back and better than ever, even after what this entire band has been through. After fifteen years apart, the band managed to pull together and release the video "Chopper Attack' which caught a lot of attention from fans both old and new and the media. All this attention proved to the band to steer their efforts to reuniting and releasing new material. After a failed attempt to release another video, the band found sanctuary on the Headbangers Open Air festival in Germany. The show went so well because of such positive crowd response; it put the band back on the map.
So here we are with their latest effort HEAVY METAL SANCTUARY! One of the album's most standout songs, "The Self Destruction Machine" (its designation later changed to something more fitting) had been the song which was planned for the initial video but it never saw the light of day. Due to the fact that recording both new sound and video material exhausted their expenses, they could not see through to the music video's completion. Later renamed "Devil Calls" the song found its way into their new release Heavy Metal Sanctuary designated for March 2014.
Battleaxe comes back with classic power metal songs that simply spell headbanging party fun in the spirit of AC/DC and Iron Maiden. The title track speaks for the whole album, opening up in mysticism and shortly transforming into a hardrocker's delight. If one dwells in the old fashioned heavy metal sound and era, then one shall enjoy this heavy hitter which simply delivers! Even for those who aren’t big fans of this genre of musical expression, I guarantee if one of these tunes comes on the radio, they will find themselves bobbing their head, and if you don’t agree, then you're reading the wrong article bub.
Make sure you check out Heavy Metal Sanctuary by Battleaxe the next chance you get or you're missing out. The spirit of rock n' roll lives on and I'd like to thank you all for supporting the Rock and Metal scene and for reading this article. I really hope you do check out the album and enjoy it.
