Show Notes:

Episode Nineteen: Nuclear Assault's Handle With Care (1989). Hailing from New York, this is the third release from the American thrashers; who are credited along with Anthrax and Overkill representing the East Coast scene. The band are known for a robust and raw style of punk-infused thrash metal; complimenting bands like Anthrax and Whiplash – who also pay homage to the NY punk scene.

Handle With Care is the band's most successful release, peaking at 126 on the Billboard 200 chart, and remained on the chart for 24 weeks. The song Critical Mass was released as a single. There was a video made for the song and was featured heavily on MTV. One note-worthy fact is Jessica Hahn (the woman involved in the Jim Baker scandal) appeared in the video. The majority of reviews for the album remained positive and consider this a pivitol release from a thrash band not considered a part of the big 4.

Fun Facts: The song Torture Tactics sampled the line "The svastika is calling you" from the movie The Blues Brothers. This song parodied Nazi ideology and seemed suitable lyrical fodder for the band.

About the artist(s):

Nuclear Assault was an American thrash metal band formed in New York City in 1984. Part of the mid-to-late 1980s thrash metal movement, they were one of the main bands of the genre to emerge from the East Coast along with Overkill, Whiplash, Toxik, Carnivore, and Anthrax,[1] the last of which was co-founded by Nuclear Assault bassist Dan Lilker, who left Anthrax shortly after the release of their first album. Nuclear Assault released five full-length albums and toured relentlessly throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, and broke up in 1995. The band reunited briefly in 1997, and permanently from 2001 to 2008 and again from 2011 to 2022. – Wikipedia
