Show Notes:
Episode Thirty-Six: This week on Thrashcast we dive back into the bay area for a rousing review of Testament's sophomore album The New Order. Released May 10, 1988 through Atlantic-Megaforce, the album broke the band into the mainstream. It was the first album to enter the Billboard 200 reaching #136 and it also featured the band's first ever instrumental track.
The New Order spawned it's first ever video and single for "Trial By Fire" and that was followed by scorching thrashers like Into "The Pit", "The Preacher" and "Disciples Of The Watch". All these numbers remain vital songs in the live rotation; helping Testament to build major popularity with fans over the years. The album also featured a cover song "Nobody's Fault" by Aerosmith that wasn't originally featured on the LP, but did turn up on the cassette and CD release.
Fun Facts: The cover art from William Benson was conceived; with the idea coming from Eric Peterson. In fact Benson completed covers for The Legacy, Practice What You Preach, Souls Of Black, and the Ritual; carving up quite an artistic legacy with the band.
