Show Notes:
Episode Forty-Three: We remain in Germany to review the Kreator's 4th album Extreme Aggression released June 19th, 1989 on Noise Records in Europe and on Epic records in the US. The album was the first record from Kreator to be featured on a large American label like Epic.
Extreme Aggression was an important release for the band, since it opened doors to a larger audience in the US. The band went on tour that year with Crossover thrashers D.R.I. and the song Betrayer received heavy rotation on the US airwaves and MTV's Headbanger's Ball. The album also featured Frank Blackfire on guitar who had previously played in Sodom. He remained with the band during tour support for the album, and continued with the band on the next release Coma of Souls.
Fun Facts: The album artwork originally featured a cover of a man starring into a mirror only to see his reflection revealing the band's mascot Violent Mind ripping out from the top of the man's head. Record label execs from Epic, thought it was too violent, so they opted for a much safer cover of the 4 musicians standing together in a rather static pose.
