Show Notes:
Episode Fifty-Five: Jim grabs the hosting duties this week, as he picks Overkill's 2010 album Iron Bound. I know many consider this a modern thrash classic and rightly so. This is a stunning nearly 60 minute release of thrashers that raise the bar for the genre.
Iron Bound is the 14th studio album from the band, released on Nuclear Blast Records. This album is the first to be released on their new label. It was the first album to chart on the Billboard 200 in 17 years, since 1993's I Hear Black. It was percieved well by fans and crtics alike, with some hailing it a comeback record after some lackluster albums in previous years. The album clocks in close to an hour and is chock full of the thrashiest riffs ever recorded by the band. Gary Holt of Exodus fame claimed this album was the best album ever produced from the band and he is not wrong with the sentiment.
Fun Facts: The album cover art was once again done by Travis Smith. He's been the band's cover artist for over the last decade and has provided some powerful artworks based around the ever-evolving band mascot Charly.
