Show Notes:
Episode Sixty-Eight: Jason joins Ken and Jim again to discuss the brilliance of Death Angel's third album Act III. Released in 1990 on Geffen Records, Act III was the final album from the band; disbanding not long after the release. In the years of the band's inactivity, various members formed a new band The Organization and then moved on to The Swarm. Eventually they reformed in 2004 for the Art of Dying and have been consistently releasing albums over the next decade and a half.
Act III presented a change in style, but still retained some of their thrash roots. The continuation of experimenting with their sound gave us some genre defying songs like "Room With A View" and "Veil Of Deception". There's still some solid thrashers like "Disturbing the Peace" and "The Organization", but other elements like funk, progressive 70's rock are thrown in for good measure. The reception was quite positive among fans and critiques and it just shows how the maturity level reached its zenith at this time.
Fun Facts: The album artwork was done by Adrian Stubican from a concept by Rob and Andy. It featured a stage show where the red curtain is about to drawn open to reveal something unknown. The image is quite curious, since we do not know if it will be something sinister or something far grander.
